Welcome and Overview
Sydney Tencer, EPS Cloud

Microsoft Azure and the Internet of Things
Paul De Carlo, Microsoft

The Internet of Things refers to a trend in technology that involves the relaying of data and communications between embedded devices, typically data aggregated by on-board sensors into a networked environment, including cloud computing platforms. We will introduce this concept through formal definition and describe its potential for impact in a variety of areas. This will then extend into a thorough discussion of examples including an soil monitoring system and biofeedback heart monitor.

Deploying your Website in Azure (IaaS)
Michael Lapidakis, EPS Cloud

What is infrastructure-as-code, anyway? Deploying complex workloads through infrastructure definition documents is now built right into Azure with Azure Resource Manager (ARM). In this session, we’ll walk you through the deployment of a network, virtual machines, and a load balancer to make the environment highly available. We’ll also review the anatomy of an infrastructure template so you can roll-your-own in the future.

Deploying your Website in Azure (PaaS)
Shashi Raina, EPS Cloud

What’s the fastest way to deploy a website in today’s cloud landscape? Cutting the servers out of website deployments can streamline development processes and ensure consistent deployments time and time again. In this session, we’ll walk you through leveraging Azure App Service Web Apps to deploy a simple auto-scaling web application. We’ll also review the pro’s and con’s of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) vs Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and when each may be applicable.
